With October 18th just around the corner all the hype is still in motion with the anticipated release of Batman: Arkham City. So they give us one last trailer to keep you wanting more, but still we never lost interest to begin with. Though some gamers are hesitant as to what the final product will be, some, just some are reserving their hopes as to not get let down. In any event we are thrilled to see one last trailer to close the loop before it finally hits the shelves this Tuesday October 18th. So…did you pre-order your copy? In case you haven’t heard, the third annual Long Beach Comic and Horror Convention is back! A top notch list of artists, panelists, vendors and celebrities just to name a few perks of attending this year, not to mention it’s the weekend of Halloween! Another excuse to dress up all weekend! Here’s some fun facts about LBCC, did you know that Nintendo launched it’s “World of Nintendo: tour at Long Beach Comic Con? The Inaugural show was held October 2-4th, 2009. Stan Lee and Long Beach City Council-member Robert Garcia open the show with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Seth Green and many of the creative staff from Robot Chicken entertain hundreds of fans in a rousing Q&A session Saturday afternoon. There aren’t many things in the world that gets me to the point of socially unacceptable sweating and asthmatic panting, but Tokyo Game Show brings out my inner Hyde-esk Otaku (Otaku translated in Japanese as forever alone). As a terrible example of “normal” behavior and anime club president (2d love is FOREVER), TGS has been a personal mecca for ALL of my interests. Apart from riding a fully armored Pegacorn (its a pegasus and a unicorn combo FYI) into battle, my more other other dream has been to go to TGS and sip tea with the greats of gaming. Unfortunately, I don’t have the luxury, skill, or bust size to pull off a Catch Me If You Can style con, so I guess I’m stuck here writing this post with bated breath like a sickly child in front of a pet/cure store.

Continuing the tradition of moody spiky haired heroes since FF7

For anyone that isn’t familiar with Tokyo Game Show simply imagine this,E3 in Japan. The twist being, Japan as the spawning ground of most of the titans of the gaming industry. The expo is held in the Makuhari Messe (its a fancy sounding convention center) in Chiba. Created in 1996 the expo starts from September 16th – 18th and opens up to the public in the last two days of the convention, the first 2 days being press only. From Nintendo to Wizards of the Coast TGS includes not only the main stream gaming companies but also game studios and developers from all over Asia (Yes, Japan is not the only Asian country that makes games). Globalization and world community building is great and all but you know what we REALLY want, VIDEO GAME NEWS!

There have already been loads of different tid-bits announced before the start of the expo. From the usual main hitters for TGS being Nintendo, Sony, and SquareEnix have lots of new information for games I’m sure your all very very excited to hear about. Zelda Skyward Sword, Final Fantasy 13- versus, Final Fantasy 13-2, and Demon Souls are predicted to be the main attractions of TGS. However, this TGS seems to be particularly special through, with their unveiling of a new bigger variety of 3Ds games/ports such as Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, Monster Hunter 4, Kid Icarus, Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Super Mario 3ds. So yah, start your salivating.

Today marks the release of Dead Island, what’s sure to be the first in an endless assault of blockbuster games coming at you this fall. From the moment its memorably trailer hit the web, Dead Island has excited gamers with its promise of touching music, island imagery and undead enemies.

But with so many games hitting shelves in the next few months, which ones should you spend your lunch money on? Here’s a brief rundown of some of the biggies to watch for.

Resistance 3

Really, really pissed.

The third installment of the PS3-exclusive, Resistance 3 picks up 4 years after the end of Resistance 2, with the humans still waging war against the chimera, who have now taken over 90% of the Earth. Awesome? You be the judge.

Gears of War 3

Steroids.

Featuring 4-player co-op for the first time in the series and a host of new guns, new enemies and even more camera shaking while you run, Gears of War 3 is gamer-tested, juicer-approved.

Battlefield 3

Holy $#&@ this looks real.

This game has literally made jaws drop with each new trailer. With absolutely stunning graphics never before seen anywhere by a game, Battlefield 3 is promising 64-player multiplayer battles on PC, fighter jets and a new co-op play mode. This could be the best first-person-shooter of all time (after Turok 64 of course).

Modern Warfare 3

Little Known Fact: the guy on the cover is actually Pee Wee Herman

Not one to be outdone, the Call of Duty megatrain rolls onward with their newest incarnation: Modern Warfare 3. With a revamped killstreaks system recently revealed at Call of Duty XP in LA, stunning graphics and the return of Spec Ops mode, the CoD franchise refuses to let Battlefield steal the glory. Think they’ll battle it out West Side Story style with a dance off? One can only hope.

PAX-Penny Arcade Conference just wrapped up from their affairs August 28th-30th.Not to fear we’ve got the goods all right here. For those of you who don’t know, PAX is a three day game festival for tabletop, video game, and PC gamers. Aside from the conference it’s referred to as a festival for the mere fact that instead of just tournaments and freeplay areas they’ve got concerts, panel discussions and of course the exhibitor hall filled with booths full of the latest and greatest from your favorite game publishers and developers. Not to mention the Cosplay and booth babes!

Mahalo Video Games was not there to cover this year, instead we stayed warm and Sunny down here in Santa Monica. But that doesn’t mean we don’t care enough about you all not to share what upcoming games we are excited about, 2012 is sure to please as well as the next few months of 2011. So enough rambling go ahead and check out this year’s PAX 2011 Trailers revealed.

Batman:Arkham City – Portrait of an American Hero… ok not exactly but let’s round them up shall we?

As you know, throughout the year Warner Bros. has been releasing what appears to be monochromatic portraits and landscapes of the upcoming Batman:Arkham City game out this October 18th on both Xbox and PS3. Today they have released is the first look at the Joker: Just last week we were given a taste of Mr. Freeze along with a trailer just showing what Mr. Freeze will be capable of in the game. Still no gameplay or trailer for Robin but he looks pretty cool, and I am very excited to see what he can do. In July we were introduced to the Riddler and Penguin. Very cinematic, very exciting! And let’s not forget the exclusive E3 gamplay footage of Catwoman. And of course Two Face. So, tell us what you think. Do you like Harley’s new costume? What part will Dr. Hugo Strange play in the game? Will Joker ever heal and look normal again? Will Batman lock up Catwoman too? We want your thoughts!
